Muevelo dance contest
On May 26 2010, TVN channel 2 will show the second season of Muévelo. This is the dance contest in which 10 Panamanian schools will show their choreographic skills.
Muévelo means move it and these teams will definitely be showing off their best dance moves. A relentless panel will be judging them by discipline and dancing skills to know who will be the next champion of the Intercolegial de Coreografías.
Most of the evaluation will depend on the judges, and they’ll focus most likely on the team’s discipline. The public will have also the opportunity to participate by voting on TVN’s website for their favorite dance team. The two schools with fewer amounts of votes will have to face a challenge against each other. The panel will then decide who is the one that continues in the competition.
Muévelo 2009 judges were:
The three finalist schools of Muévelo 2009 were, in third place taking home B/5000 “Bilingue La Academia”, in second place “El Instituto America” and the great champion “San Judas Tadeo,” who took home B/12000 and other awards. The final score was a very close call; the third and second place had a punctuation of 72.10 and 73.40; the first place got a final punctuation of 76.30.

An incredible mix of technique, stage presence, artistry, choreography, professionalism, costuming and star quality make up the dynamic performances of belly dancer Jillina. Jillina Carlano is the choreographer and artistic director of the Bellydance Superstars and Sahlala Dancers.
Jillina was a jazz and hip-hop dancer for most of her dance career, but one day she signed up for a belly dance class with Diane Webber and fell in love with the music, the movements, and the self-expression. Jillina decided to concentrate in this dance and she began training more seriously in Oriental dance to further her career as a belly dancer. She studied with Oriental dance masters like Hallah Moustafa, Zahra Zuhair, Sahra, Feiruz, Angelika and at home she practice with instructional videotapes.
While performing her solos, Jillina becomes completely mesmerizing and you cannot take your eyes from her because you are fixating on each movement. Each hip shimmy, each torso contraction, each twirl and pirouette is worth individual attention. And Jillina is just so sexy! With her beautiful, soulful, and passionate style, her dance becomes remarkable, soulful and absolutely dynamic.
Jillina Bellydance Superstar will be performing for one night only in Panama City, Panama, at the Ascanio Arosemena Theater on Sunday April 5, 2009. Jillina will be teaching two workshops during the day: Oriental Fusion and Drum Solo at the Hotel El Panama. I had the pleasure to enjoy her performances twice before, and all I can say is you cannot let the opportunity pass to watch on scene the most complete belly dancer of the 21 century.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote in this blog about how to do a striptease for your man. One of my advices was to go to a strip club and learn from the pros. So, on Friday night I took my own advice and with a group of my closest girls, we went for the first time to see a strip show. It was not as easy as I thought to find a place where girls could get in. Lucky for us, at The Crazy Horse Panama women are always welcome! I think it’s the only place in Panama City, Panama, where we could get in without a man.
We arrived around 9pm. A nice gentleman walked us to our table with a large red couch and an excellent view of the stage. A sexy brunette dancer was already on stage ready to take off her top. We were astonished to see how easily she took her top off without even a blink. We settle down on the plush couch and ordered a round of margaritas and vodka tonics to begin our night of exotic dancers and strip shows. The drinks where excellent! I haven’t had a margarita as good as this one in a very long time. We ordered another round while the next stripper was announced by the DJ.
The stripper walks into the stage dress as a cowgirl, very a sexy but a bit serious. In fact, she didn’t smile once. She stars shaking her booty wildly while she gets closer to the pole. There, the stripper grabs with both hands the pole and she jumps on top and slowly spins her body down onto the floor. The crowd went wild and we moved closer to the stage. Another stripper gets on the stage, with a dollar bill a client was giving to the dancer. The girl laid down on the stage while the dancer gets on top of her, grinding her hips and picking up the bill with her teeth. We were impressed of her flexibility and her erotic acrobatic dance. How in the world could she dance in those impossibly high heels and not break her neck? It was even more impressive to dance around the glasses of some inconsiderate patrons who weren’t concerned on how dangerous can be for the stripper to slip or fall down.
Next dancer was a blond name Melisa. She was one of our favorite girls.
Melisa is a petite cute blond girl with a sweet smile and a very sunny disposition. We specially like her cause of her eye contact with the public and the way she smiled to all of us, not just the guys. Her outfit was very sexy, some kind of jungle girl outfit looking perfect on her body. She danced very sensually and with lots of confidence. Melisa got the guys to come closer to see her, you could see the air got electrifying every time she performed. Also, she got us giving her tips while stripping! Melisa was really easy to talk with. She was not as intimidating as we thought she will be. We weren’t sure how the strippers will react with other women in their turf.
We were fascinated with the strippers. To us some seem very nice while other were plain snobby. Some of the other girls just sat around without any interaction with the clients, while others were friendly and walking around making small talk with the clients. They were pretty girls but not with huge boobies like we thought. I guess we have lots of expectation from what we see on TV. Strip clubs are not as bad as we thought either. Strippers were kind like regular girls. It was a very eye opening experience, because if they could get a man as turn on as they were, so we could to.
We were getting a bit bored, and with the nice music and a few more drinks, we were ready to turn the party up! …
If you want to know what we talked with Melissa about, come back to continue reading about our erotic night at a strip club! You don´t want to miss how the night got even hotter!

Pole dancing has very old origin in England. It comes from the maypole, which at the beginning was a fertility and sexuality ritual. It was performed to honor the pagan god named The Horned One. Hence, the maypole was a symbolic phallic symbol. Later, the maypole evolved into the worship of Mother Earth, giving this ritual a more acceptable aspect. It was very popular in England until around the end of the 1800’s.
Emigrants in the new world carry this tradition of the maypole in to the United States. And just like basketball and baseball, pole dancing was created in United States. During the early day the Great Depression, traveling fairs become very popular entertainment.
They had small tents with a stage, where dancers were feature as the main attraction. While performing erotic dances, the dancers would shake and grind their bodies sensually while using the poles, which were holding up the tent, for support.
Pole dancing was first performed by a dancer named Princess Pat. She worked for One Eye Tommy Fallon and Mom Fallon. And the first recorded pole dance show was by Belle Jangles, who worked in an Oregon club called Mugwump was in 1968.
Pole dances become increasable popular en Canada during the 1980’s. >From Vancouver comes what we see today in strip clubs and gentleman’s club. And spread all over the world and as far as China.
Today, pole dancing is not only for strip clubs and gentleman’s club, women embrace their sensual selves and enjoy taking classes to learn to perform a pole dance and other erotic dances. However, most women don’t run home to dance for their man.
Pole dancing is an escape from daily life where women take time for them and enjoy their sexuality. This way of thinking outside the box creates friendship between women of all kind of social economical status. Pole dancing is here to stay, not as a ritual, but as a new expression of dance.
